Head Start Families and Community:
The health and safety of the children in our communities remains one of our top priorities. We have all been experiencing a new way of education and family services with COVID-19. Some have been quarantined, we wear face coverings, and we social distance. Some have not been able to go to school regularly or to work.
Now, we are slowly making our way back to creating a new normal. United CAP Head Start will be back to regular classroom schedules beginning March 1, 2021. If your child has been attending a hybrid classroom, that class will be back to a four-day-week schedule. Other classrooms will not see a change in schedule; however, children from our waiting list will have the opportunity to begin school at Head Start. If your child has been participating in a home-based virtual model, your home visitor will be contacting you in the coming weeks for opportunities for in-person visits.
To make sure we continue to keep children and our staff healthy and safe, we will continue to enforce all COVID-19 precautions as stated in our COVID-19 Preparedness Plan. This includes special parent drop-off/pick-up procedures, no volunteers or non-staff in buildings/classrooms, daily health checks of children and staff, social distancing strategies, mask requirements, and frequent handwashing and sanitizing.
We urge you to be in communication with your child’s teacher, family service worker, or home visitor with specific questions related to classroom schedules or family needs.
With warm regards,
Dr. Mary Lockhart Findling
