UCAP’s Big Buddies program is the main component of our youth development.
UCAP’s Youth Development programs work with youth (ages 5-18) to foster personal growth, develop leadership and life skills, and to form long-lasting friendships with both adults and peers.
Big Buddies is a community-based youth development program that works with youth to nurture personal growth and to support, inspire, and guide them toward a future of unlimited opportunities. Our programs provide tools and opportunities in the form of mentors, after school programs, community events, and group activities to help youth navigate the challenges of growing up healthy, safe, and prepared for success. By being a Big Buddy, mentors can make a difference in a child’s life with as little as 2-4 hours a month, or more. Mentors and youth relationships typically last one year, though some of our mentor relationships have turned into long lasting friendships.
Our programming is focused on:
- Social Skills
- Life Skills
- Leadership Skills
- Healthy Friendships
- Personal Well-being
