Temporary fare changes are being considered. Let us know what you think.
As staff begin to make plans to gradually bring on-board fare collection back, we are proposing some changes:
- Only unlimited monthly passes will be sold. This is because an unlimited pass requires just one exchange between the passenger and driver per month.
- Unlimited monthly passes will be available for $40. We hope this reduction in cost will allow more people to access these passes in a time when many people are experiencing financial strain.
- Those who pay with cash must have exact change. Drivers will not have tokens on buses to make change. This, again, will limit the hand-to-hand contact between passengers and drivers.
Even with these changes, no person will be denied transportation for inability to pay. These changes will be adopted on February 1, 2021, if approved. Submit your comments by January 15th.

Community Transit of United Community Action Partnership is a public transit service providing transportation options for all people throughout Southwest Minnesota.
Everyone is welcome to ride Community Transit. Our fleet of over 40 lift-accessible buses provide public transportation throughout 8 counties in Southwest Minnesota. Our primary service area includes Cottonwood, Jackson, Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Pipestone, Redwood and Rock counties.
Community Transit offers primarily dial-a-ride service. Door-to-door and curb-to-curb pick-ups are available. In Marshall and Redwood Falls, we also offer scheduled routes for convenient access to many locations.
Community Transit is a shared ride program. This means all trips are coordinated to include as many passengers as possible based on their pick-up and drop-off locations. Bus schedules are created in advance to meet the travel needs of passengers who have requested our services.
When you book your ride, the dispatcher will attempt to fit your desired pick-up time into the schedule. We will suggest the closest available alternate pick-up time when we cannot accommodate your specific request. Call 24 hours or more in advance for the best time availability.
Volunteer drivers provide rides to destinations outside the primary service area or when buses are not available.
Thank you for your service, your kindness, and helping me get through this transitional time in my life.”
