RESPONSIBILITIES: The Grant Accountant provides accounting support to UCAP in processing grants/contracts; the monthly accounting cycle; to include General Ledger postings; preparation of financial reporting; and audit preparation responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field and 3 – 5-years’ experience or combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
- Prior work experience and understanding of grant funding, grant budgeting, grant billing, grant accounting, and grant closeouts using federal and state rules and regulations governing grants administration.
- Familiarity with OMB regulations on the use of grants under federal requirements.
- Ability to analyze and systematically compile financial information to prepare correspondence and reports.
- Ability to interpret federal, state, and local government laws and regulations related to grant contracts and administration; Strong background in analytical functions including financial analysis and funds control.
- Strong knowledge of general accounting practices and principles, including GAAP and fund accounting. Demonstrated budgeting and financial analysis skills.
- Working knowledge of various computer accounting system and applications, to include MS Office. Ability to learn new computer applications.
- Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects with constant multiple deadlines. Ability to work independently and as a productive team member.
- Demonstrated effective verbal & written communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
