Friends of UCAP have the opportunity to influence the future of the Energy Assistance Program (EAP). The Department of Commerce has opened the comment period for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) State Plan. A message from the Department of Commerce, links to the draft plan, and ways to comment are included in the remainder of this article.
The draft FFY2020 Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) State Plan describes how federal LIHEAP funds will be used to help low-income households reduce their energy burdens.
Commerce uses comments received at the public hearing and during the comment period to develop the final state plan. The comment period is open through July 16th.
